DMA — first gatekeeper compliance deadline (6-month obligations)
Gatekeepers designated by September 2023 had 6 months to comply with DMA obligations including interoperability of messaging services, ban on self-preferencing, data portability, prohibition on combining personal data across services without consent, and fair access to business users.
Applies to: designated gatekeepers: Alphabet (Google), Amazon, Apple, ByteDance (TikTok), Meta, Microsoft
Penalty: up to 10% of worldwide annual turnover; up to 20% for repeat infringements; structural remedies including divestitures
